All Good
Issue 1 Volume 19
October 2016 Editor: Colleen Moulding

Hello Ladies
I just noticed that with this issue
the All That Women Want ezine has been published every
month for nineteen years now.
When the first issue was published way back in 1997
there wasn’t that much content aimed at women on the internet,
but I am so proud of the way that women worldwide have
embraced the opportunity of a level playing field, with
so many talented artists, writers and crafters blogging
and creating home businesses.
I have enjoyed putting the ezine together for you each
month and as we get very few unsubscribers I can only
assume that you are enjoying it too. 19 years – where
did that time go! Make the most of every day won’t you?

New Hairstyle Design Tips: Mistakes You’re Doing When
Straightening Your Hair
By Kay K
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Who doesn’t love sleek hair? It is neat, elegant, shiny
and never fails to be trendy. In addition to that, it is
one of the easiest and fastest hair-dos that you might
attempt to have at home. All you need to do is put your
flat iron on and work it through the strands. Yet, with
all its benefits, comes along a serious problem represented
with burnt fried ends. And why is that? Because you probably
did some mistakes while straightening your hair. In this article,
we will provide you with new hairstyle design tips to avoid
further damage by avoiding these mistakes and fixing them
with reliable steps that keep your strands healthy.

First Mistake: Not Prepping the Hair

When applying the hot tool directly on your hair without
protection, there is no way your strands can hold on to
the moisture it is enriched with. They are left dry and
damaged. That’s why it is really important to rely on
a treatment that keeps the strands hydrated and protects
it from the heat. You can always go to argan oil that
nourishes and restores health.

Second Mistake: Keeping the Temperature Really High

No matter how much you slather on leave-in treatments,
your hair won’t be protected if the temperature of the
flat iron is really high. Besides, the high temperature
won’t help in getting sleek hair faster or better; it’ll
just help in damaging your hair even worse. Set the
temperature on medium level; it will be effective enough
to make your hair really sleek and tidy, without causing

Third Mistake: Blow Drying When the Hair is too Dry or too Wet

Before you use the flat iron or the hair straightener you
use the blow dryer to blow your hair. You have to know
that when you use it on wet hair, you expose your hair
to much heat, and when you use it on dry hair, you cause
dryness. The optimal time to blow dry the hair is about
to dry, but is still wet. When doing so, avoid using
metal brushes that become really hot and help in drying
your hair.

Fourth Mistake: Blow Drying in a Wrong Direction

Yes, there is a right way to blow drying. When you blow
dry your hair in the wrong direction, your hair breaks
and looks frizzy. The right way to hold your blow dryer
is aiming it downwards. This way, your strands will fall
towards your shoulders.

Follow these hairstyle design tips for a better hair
straightening treatment.

Sleep Your Way to The Top
By Joy Chudacoff
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

There’s one slight shift you can make in your daily habits
that could reap BIG rewards. In fact, this habit has been
linked to better decision-making, creativity, health and
even weight-loss. Do you know what it is? Sleep.

Making a commitment (experts say seven to eight hours
is preferable) to sleep can create a dramatic impact
in every area of your life. In Arianna Hufffington’s
new book, “Thrive”, she shares a study from Harvard
Medical School’s Division of Sleep Medicine that lack
of sleep impacts mood, ability to focus, creativity
and generally affects our mental performance. Mental
performance is a top requirement for entrepreneurs!

Ever notice when the topic of sleep comes up, the
conversation goes something like this: “I only had
four hours of sleep last night – working on a big
project.” “I had so much work to do that I just
couldn’t get to bed before midnight!” Lack of
sleep has become a status symbol. If you get too
much, somehow this gets translated into: “She
doesn’t have enough to do-she’s not busy enough.”
Stop the madness. Move away from this mindset.

If you’re willing to try a new smart solution that
doesn’t cost anything to implement but comes packed
with a whole host of benefits, set the intention to
get seven or eight hours of sleep each night this week.
I guarantee, that you’ll see a difference in the quality
of your day and a better bottom line result in your business.

I personally set the intention to get a full eight hours
of sleep each night. I realized a long time ago that
sleep was a secret weapon for me. Eight hours of sleep
gives me the energy I need to serve my clients in achieving
the results they are looking for, navigate the many
decisions in a growing company, managing a healthy and
loving family, all while sustaining good health.

The key is making a solid commitment to sleep. Here are
five smart solutions to help you relax and create the
one habit that could change the course of your business
and your health:

1. Get a new pair of comfy and relaxing pajamas.

2. Make sure the pillow and bedding you have is comfortable.

3. Use soft lamp lighting in the evening to bring the
mind and body to a calm, relaxed state.

4. Take a warm bath with bath salts or your favorite bubble bath.

5. Eliminate all electronics from your bedroom (no phone,
computer, tablets or TV) at night.

Sleep tight!

Anything is possible. Everything is waiting for you.

Where to Find Antique Mirrors For Sale
By Jeff B. Morgan
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Antiquing is a fun and exciting hobby. Part of the fun of antiquing
is deciding what to collect. Antique mirrors are gorgeous and will
enhance the beauty of any room in your home. Learning about antique
mirrors can be interesting. There is a lot of history behind an
antique mirror.

Where to Find Antique Mirrors

Antique mirrors can be found all over the world. You truly
never know when you might come across one in your daily life.
Do you like to go to garage sales or estate sales? These are
the best places to find antique mirrors because they are generally
sold at significantly low prices.

Most people that sell one in a garage sale or estate sale have
no idea they have such a treasure. They are just happy to get
rid of the “old stuff.” This is great news for someone with
the trained eye. This will take a lot longer than having one
handed to you. However, it is also the best way to get that
feeling of getting a great deal and that feeling of excitement
from the thrill of the hunt.

If searching all over the place for an antique mirror is not
for you then there are places that have done the leg work for
you. You will pay the price, but this price may well be worth
it to you. You can find the treasures you are looking for in
local antique shops, estate auctions, and online.

If you choose to go the online route, you will need to do some
research to ensure the company is reputable. Check reviews for
this company; however, do not believe everything you read.
Anyone can write a review. You will want to find less formal
reviews that are written by people who have actually had
experiences with the company.

Identifying Styles of Antique Mirrors

Styles vary in architecture and artistry depending on the
different periods that they were designed in. Most features
are intricately curved and glided frames. The mirrors also
differ in the techniques in which they were produced. Most
of the mirrors you will find are oval or rectangular. The
different styles include:

Mirrored Glass – This type of glass was coated on one side
with a reflective substance. These were generally seen in
mirrors from the 16th century to the 1840s. The process
for making these mirrors was called silvering.

Baroque Mirrors – These are large mirrors made from small
pieces of glass that were joined together. These mirrors
were made of mostly oak and walnut. The frames were usually
finished with a gold or silver leaf that was meant to enhance
the reflection of sunlight and candlelight.

Plate Glass and the Rococo – This mirror made its debut at
the beginning of the 18th century. This mirror was made with
large sheets of plate glass. The mirrors were rectangular
in carved mahogany or walnut frames of curlicues and seashells.
These started off as French mirrors. The English and American
manufacturers began using the technique of plate glass in 1770.

Classical Elegance – These mirrors are generally rectangular.
Different countries have their own design based on the era
of classical values and artistic tastes. The French Empire
style mirrors were simple with mahogany frames. English
Regency style mirrors were more elegant with gilded flowers a
nd scrollwork carved at the tops of the frames.

Victorian Imitations – These were mirrors produced in the
19th century that combined different aspects of one period
with other aspects of another. For example, a Renaissance
frame might have a large factory made plate glass from the
19th century surrounded with 15th or 16th century motifs.
The different styles are unique and can help you identify
the type of antique mirror you are considering for your home.

Fall Is in the Air, And So Is COLOR!
By Carin G Hansen
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Everywhere you look there are reminders that the season is
changing… and fall fashions are joining in with the reminder
that its is time to think about heart-warming (and body-warming)
colors. Fall fashions are immersed in COLOR! They run the gamut
from shades of blue to vibrant reds and gold, deep green, warm
brown and a surprise color – vivid violet (with a bit more pink
than expected). You can check out the fall colors by simply
Googling “Pantone fall 2016”.

To boost their “color power” this season’s makeup should also
be warm and vibrant. It’s all about sultry eyes and matte lips
in deep tones. Here is a short list of great fall makeup ideas.

1. bronzers

2. lip stains

3. smoky or burgundy eye shadows

4. eyebrow pencil to bring out your eyebrows, if yours are sparse

Juice Beauty has a wonderful line of makeup – I love their Haze,
Phyto Pigments Cream Shadow Stick! You might want to check them out.

Here are some tips for choosing the best makeup options for any
outfit this fall:

1. Oranges, golds and browns are best of olive complexions

2. Shades of blue, gray and violet are best of light skin – but
be cautious of yellow violets that could make your skin sallow.

3. Try matching the flecks of color in the iris of your eye for
eye shadow.

4. With any given outfit, highlight only one facial feature.

5. Use colors in a print to help determine one or two makeup shades.

6. When wearing evening/formal wear, you can use a bit heavier
hand when applying your makeup.

Here are some things you might not know!

1. For an instant “teeth whitener” apply a blue-based pink lip
gloss – the bluish tint will reflect onto your teeth.

2. Navy eyeliner will make the whites of your eyes appear whiter and brighter.

3. Keep your makeup fresh and safe with these “expiration date” facts.

Mascara and liquid eye liner – 3 months

Foundation, lipstick, liquid blush and eye shadow – 6 months.

Powder blush and powder eye shadows – 1 year

Fall is known for its color as leaves change and begin to drop to
the ground. You too can be known for using color in a beautiful
way this season. Have FUN!

5 Easy Tips To Infuse A Retro Look Into Your Home
By Erika Bentley
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Retro home decor is making a comeback, and it’s doing it
with style as many homeowners are now turning to the older
days to give a new look to their house. When you decide to
infuse a retro look into your home, what’s the first thing
that crosses your mind? Is it the kitchen walls of avocado
color? Or is it the classic shag carpets in front of the
fireplace? Well, whatever your idea of retro may be, know
that vintage pieces not only bring much-needed refreshment
in your home but also don’t cost you a fortune.

So how do you add bits and pieces of retro without completely
changing the theme of your home? Keep reading this guide to find out.

5 easy tips to infuse a retro look into your home

1. Use saturated colors

Home decor in the 60’s and 70’s placed a lot of focus on
color, which lent almost every house a distinct look of
its own. You don’t need to redo your entire home, all
you have to do is use punchy hues in certain areas of
your house to give it a classic look from the bygone era.
While bold colors that go slightly over the top may bring
a look of retro to a room, remember that the same color
won’t suit everywhere.

As a general rule of thumb, use pale colors in a small
room and darker colors in rooms that are larger in size.
If your room is small, paint the walls with a lighter
color and complement the look by throwing in more
saturated accessories.

2. Use vintage furniture and accessories

Infuse a retro look into your home

The best part about trying to infuse a retro look
into your home is perhaps the fact that you don’t
need to match everything to the last possible detail.
To bring a feeling of nostalgia all you may have to
do is introduce a retro style table, few classic chairs,
or a 70’s inspired sofa set. As more people are
experimenting with retro visuals, many companies
have dedicated themselves to offering specialized
services to re-imagining and recreating all things retro.

Accessories like a rotary phone, lava lamp, a stack of
albums placed in a corner, or a few retro posters can
significantly boost the overall appeal without burning
a hole in your pocket. If you can manage to find old
retro posters of your favorite band or films, just
frame and hang them on the wall to create a fabulous

3. Make the best use of lighting

Similar to furniture, lighting has a tremendous impact
on how your room looks and feels. To fully capture
the essence of a bygone era, you may use industrial
pendants of vintage style to imbue a rustic kitchen
like feel or bring in few circular mod chandeliers
for a quick retro fix. If you are yet not ready to
invest in getting permanent fixtures, try out Edison
light bulbs that come in a broad range of shapes
and sizes. Do not ignore the aspect of lighting
if you want to completely infuse a retro look into your home.

4. Change up the headboard and paneling

Try out some designs of the Victorian era with
bead-board or paneling that should be readily available
in any of your neighborhood hardware stores. This can
be an excellent way to infuse a retro look into your
home as it adds the required character and texture to
reflect fully on the older days. Concentrate on
overlooked spaces like laundry rooms, hallways,
entryways, and other small areas to add an immediate
spark to the visual aesthetics.

5. Make the most of the flea market items

There’s always one thing in every home that defines its
character. When you’re going to infuse a retro look into
your home, the best way you can find a one-of-a-kind piece,
without burning through the dollars is by checking the
flea market or a reputed online auction site. You can
bring in an antique steamer trunk and use as a coffee
table or use old fabric ladders to hang linens or for
stacking potted plants. Whatever you do, be prepared
to see a look of astonishment on the faces of your guests.

To infuse a retro look into your home is easy if you
know how to change a few things here and there and are
willing to spend some time researching and experimenting.
We hope these tips help you get the retro home of your dreams.
